Dec 16, a golden letter day in India’s history: Mahara

 Terming December 16 as the golden letter day in the history of India, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that on this day in the year 1971, Indian soldiers registered an emphatic victory over Pakistan under the leadership of Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Arora and the strong will of Iron lady former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He was addressing a programme organised at Rajiv Bhawan to pay tributes to the martyrs on Friday.

Mahara said that the Indian soldiers have exhibited immense courage and displayed valour in every war. He said that many brave sons of Uttarakhand had sacrificed their lives in the Indo Pak war of 1971. The PCC president honoured the former armed forces personnel on the occasion. The general secretary organisation Vijay Saraswat, General secretary P K Agarwal, Naveen Joshi, Captain (Retd) Balbeer Singh Rawat, Jaswinder Singh Gogi, Garima Dasauni and others were present on the occasion.
