The police have identified the absconding accused behind double murders in Udham Singh Nagar’s Rudrapur in the wee hours of Thursday as Jagdish, a native of Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The police suspect that the female victim was the primary target of the accused. A husband and wife, Sanju Yadav (38) and Sonali (34), were brutally murdered at their house which was witnessed by their children in the Transit Camp area of Rudrapur. The circle officer of Rudrapur police, Anusha Badola told The Pioneer that the accused was identified with the help of the children who witnessed the murder. “According to them, the accused Jagdish used to live in a rented room in front of their house. The police also came to know during the investigation that he used to reportedly send bouquets and gifts to the victim Sonali. It is possible that they had an affair. It appears that she was the primary target of the accused rather than her husband but we are still gathering concrete evidence on the matter,” said Badola. She added that police teams are searching for the accused who will be nabbed soon. The police also released a photo and a poster of the absconding accused along with his details late on Thursday night. The police have appealed to the public to contact the police if they get any kind of information about the accused. The name of the informers will not be made public. The senior superintendent of police of Udham Singh Nagar Manjunath TC also visited a private hospital late on Thursday where Sonali’s mother Gauri Mandal was admitted who sustained serious injuries when the accused attacked her. TC took stock of her health and directed the hospital staff to take proper care of her.
