Covid-19 surge continues in U’khand

Active cases count rises to 1,040, positivity rate at 13.76 %

The increasing cases of the Covid-19 coupled with the disdain shown by the general public in following Covid appropriate behaviour is causing concern among the authorities and the health experts. In a clear sign that the Covid-19 cases are increasing at an alarming pace, the State Health department has reported 644 new cases of the disease in the last three days only in Uttarakhand.

The Health department reported 260 new cases of the disease from different parts of the state on Saturday. The death of no patient was reported from the disease in Uttarakhand on the day.

  The authorities also declared 103 patients cured from the disease on the day.  The department has so far detected 95,808 new cases of the disease from January 1 this year till date. A total of 91,075 patients have recovered from the disease so far in this year. The recovery percentage of the disease was at 95.06 per cent. A total of 286 patients have lost their lives to the disease this year in the state. The state had a very high positivity rate of 13.76 per cent on Saturday.

 The health department reported 149 new patients from Dehradun, 51 from Nainital, 14 from Almora, 13 from Rudraprayag, six each from Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar, four from Uttarkashi, three from Tehri and two from Chamoli on Saturday. No new cases were reported from Bageshwar, Champawat, Pithoragarh and Pauri districts on the day. 

The number of active patients of Covid-19 went past the 1000 mark on Saturday as there are 1040 active patients in the state now. Dehradun with 674 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Nainital and Haridwar have 180 and 59 active cases of the disease respectively. Bageshwar is the only district in the state which has no active cases of the disease now.
