The former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaj Sharif is returning to his country after four years’ self-imposed exile. His return ahead of the general election in Pakistan slated in January is being seen by the political observers as the veteran leader’s return to the arena of electoral politics. Meanwhile, security in Lahore has been spruced up in view of the 73-year-old leader’s return. Confirming Nawaj Sharif’s return, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaj said in a media statement that it is time for hope and celebration in the country now grappling with the breakdown of the financial and democratic systems.  The media statement further revealed that the leader has been in Dubai for some days and he is returning to Islamabad and from there to Lahore. At the Minar- e- Pakistan in Lahore, his party is organising a welcome rally where the party activists are now congregating. The party leaders sounded upbeat on the leader’s return ahead of the general election, hoping that it would usher in his party’s return to power.

A senior home department officer reportedly said that a high- level meeting of the department had been held during which the officers took stock of the security arrangements being made for the three-time PM of the country.
