Considering the increasing number of dengue cases in the city, the Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) has declared five wards as dengue hotspots. The Haridwar municipal commissioner Dayanand Saraswati issued an order on Thursday stating that more than five cases each have been found in New Vishnu Garden, Lantowali, Kumhar Gad, Sandesh Nagar, Sanyas Road and Chetandev Kutiya wards. He has directed the senior municipal health officer and sanitation inspectors to conduct door to door inspections of all these wards and check for the presence of larvae in every house and establishment. He instructed them to be present physically during inspections and asked them to ensure fogging and spraying of larvicide in the hotspot areas. He also directed them to raise awareness among locals regarding the prevention of dengue besides taking all possible measures to prevent its spread in the city.
