Flying squads, static surveillance teams to start intensive checking drive from today

The additional chief electoral officer (ACEO) Vijay Kumar Jogdande has said 293 flying squads and 252 static surveillance teams have been deployed for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. The voting will be held at 11,729 polling booths on April 19 in all the five LS seats in Uttarakhand.  The voters will cast their votes from 7 am to 5 pm. Jogdande said that all the flying and static surveillance teams will undertake an intensive checking drive 72 hours before the day of voting.  The intensive checking drive will start from Tuesday. The ACEO said that intensive checking will be done at interstate borders and at all the check posts. Dry days will be observed in the State from 5 pm on April 17 till 6 pm on April 19 in the State during which all liquor shops will remain closed.

 Jogdande added that the process of randomisation of the polling parties is currently underway. He informed that 12 polling parties (11 in Uttarkashi and one in Pithoragarh) will leave three day before the voting day from their headquarters. These 12 parties will depart on Tuesday morning.
