In a late-night raid on Sunday, the Haridwar police busted a gambling racket and arrested 22 persons in the Jwalapur area of the district. The Jwalapur Police raided the house of a known criminal Jagpal in Mohalla Kaithwara and arrested his son and 21 people who had assembled there. A consignment of illegal liquor and cash was also recovered from the house of Jagpal who is a history-sheeter.
Late on Sunday night, the police force led by Kotwali in-charge RK Saklani raided the house of Jagpal. Though Jagpal managed to flee from the spot, the police team found that the betting was being done at his house. Three boxes of English and three boxes of country-made liquor were recovered from the possession of his son Dharmendra alias Pinka, who was caught on the spot. Kotwali in charge said that Rs 4800 was recovered from the spot.
