Former domestic help of ex-MLA dies while escaping from police custody

A former domestic help of the former MLA Suresh Rathore died while escaping from police custody in Delhi on Friday. The former domestic help was accused of stealing valuable items from the camp office of the former MLA about a week ago.

It is pertinent to mention that items including costly watches, sunglasses and laptops among others were stolen a week ago from the camp office of former Jwalapur MLA Suresh Rathore in Bahadarabad.  A case was filed against unknown persons by the police. The former MLA had raised doubts on some persons including his former domestic help. Rathore had removed him from the job about eight months ago. Following investigation, the police narrowed down on the former domestic help Ankit as prime suspect. During questioning he confessed to having stolen the valuable items from the former MLA’s camp office. He told the police that he had handed over all the stolen items to a friend in Delhi.

The accused, originally a resident of Nagina, Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh was taken by the police to Old Kundli under New Ashok Nagar police station area of Delhi to recover the stolen goods.  While in Delhi, the accused reportedly freed his hand from the constable and jumped from the roof of a building and died. News of the incident caused a stir in the police in Haridwar with senior officials from Haridwar leaving for Delhi to inquire about the whole incident and handle the situation.The police CO (Sadar) Bahadur Singh Chauhan and Bahadurabad police station officer Nitesh Sharma reached Delhi and after taking information about the incident, informed his family members.
