The Champawat district magistrate Narendra Singh Bhandari inaugurated the newly constructed building of Lohaghat municipality whose construction has cost Rs 70 lakh. The programme was presided over by the municipality president Govind Verma. The DM assured the people on this occasion that the district administration’s first priority is to solve people’s problems. Those who spoke on the occasion dwelt on Lohaghat’s history, its journey from notified area to municipality and its developments. The people present informed the DM about the drinking water and health-related problems they have been facing.
DM in his address said that the municipality plays an instrumental role in the town’s development. He also lauded the efforts being made by the municipality president Govind Verma for the development of Lohaghat town.
Verma said that in view of the parking problem being faced by the people of the town, a multi-storey car parking building is coming up at the cost of Rs 1.5 crore. He further said that it is coming up on the land where the old municipality building stood, adding that the upcoming car parking facility will add up to the income of the civic body.
