Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has so far covered six out of 13 districts as part of his plan to stay in and tour districts on Friday and Saturday. During his stay in the districts, the chief minister reviews development works, inaugurates completed schemes, lays the foundation stones for new works and also directly interacts with the general public. He is also laying special focus on interactions with the youth and women on issues of public importance.

It will be recalled that some time ago, the chief minister had decided that he would tour and stay in the districts on Friday and Saturday. Acting on his decision, he has toured and stayed in six districts so far including Rudraprayag, Champawat, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. During his district tour, in addition to reviewing the execution of development works the chief minister also checks the execution of the announcements made by him. During the review meetings, he is known to pull up officials found careless or irresponsible towards their duties. The officials have already been directed to come to the meetings after doing their homework and with a roadmap. Along with the feedback from the government system, Dhami also gets information about the local issues and problems while interacting directly with the local residents. During his morning and evening walks, he has made it a habit to talk to local traders, farmers and women. During his visit to Pithoragarh, he went for a morning walk on Sunday and enjoyed hot tea at a local vendor while also enquiring about his condition. Local residents and local public representatives also had a discussion with the chief minister over tea. Shortly afterwards, on seeing students of a private school going on a picnic, Dhami boarded their bus and briefly interacted with them. Since Pithoragarh is also the chief minister’s native district where he spent his childhood in his native village of Harkhola, some of his childhood friends also reached the district headquarters to meet him.

Observers opine that the chief minister is not only trying to consolidate his interaction with the public during his district tours but also trying to tighten the government machinery to ensure timely execution of various ambitious and other public welfare schemes.
