Students of U’khand stranded in Manipur to fly home

State Govt makes arrangements for return of 15 students on May 12

 The Uttarakhand government has intensified its efforts to bring the students of the State stranded in violence affected Manipur. Following the efforts of the government these students would now reach Dehradun on May 12.

Concerned for the safety of 15 students of the State currently studying in Manipur, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had directed the department of civil aviation to bring them home safely.  After the order of the CM, the department sprang into action. The civil aviation secretary Dilip Jawalkar informed that all the students of Uttarakhand staying in Manipur were contacted with the help of the police. After setting up contact the State government held special talks with the officials of Indigo airlines and the tickets of these students were booked by the State government. Jawalkar said that all the students would take the direct flight of Indigo airlines from Imphal on May 12 to land in Dehradun airport on Friday evening. Riots and ethnic violence have claimed 62 lives in Manipur so far where thousands of families have been displaced. Many students from different parts of the country are stranded in the capital Imphal and other areas.
