1,938 childless couples avail benefit of ART for becoming parents

A total of 1,938 childless couples in the State have availed benefit of the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART)  for becoming parents after the successful implementation of ART Act -2021 and Surrogacy Act 2021 in the State.

 The State Health department has collected the data of the beneficiaries of the ART in the last two years and has dispatched a report to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. 

The ART and Surrogacy Acts were passed in the State in the year 2021. Under the Act a total of 22 clinics providing ART facilities were registered in the State. The data of the department shows that out of 1,938 couples, 726 got treated in the Indira IVF clinic. Similarly 168 couples got benefit of ARY in Nova IVF Fertility Centre, 165 in Care IVF Unit, 137 in Futela Fertility Centre, 103 in Uttaranchal Test Tube Baby Centre, 83 in Genesis IVF, 68 in Morpheus Prasad International IVF Centre, 57 in Vrinda Famicare Fertility, 54 in Vaishya Nursing Home ART Clinic, 53 in Mahant Indiresh IVF Centre, 45 in Nidan Fertility Clinic, 42 in Oli Hospital Fertility Research Centre, 41 in Ashirwad Healthcare and Fertility Centre and 28 at the IVF Centre in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh.

 The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that due to successful implementation of Surrogacy Act and ART Act 2021 in the State a total of 1,938 couples have availed the benefit of ART to become parents. He said that under the act only the couples incapable of having children and some categories of women (single and married) are eligible to avail benefit of ART for becoming parents.
