Two dead, seven injured after vehicle falls into gorge in Tehri

Two men died and seven were critically injured after a truck fell into a 300 metre deep gorge at Devprayag in Tehri on Thursday morning. The police informed that the vehicle was on its way to Rishikesh from Srinagar when the driver reportedly lost control over the vehicle near the Teen Dhara area of Devprayag. The police called State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) to rescue the injured from the gorge. Two bodies were recovered and seven injured persons including a 15-year-old boy were rescued. The station house officer (SHO) of Devprayag, Sanjay Mishra informed that the injured were taken to the nearest health centre and then all were admitted to AIIMS-Rishikesh for treatment. The injured people belonging to Uttar Pradesh were identified as Rahul Saini (25), Mohit (26), Virendra Singh (28), Dinesh Kumar (30) , Vipin Kumar (30) and Satish (32) along with 15-year-old Umer from Haridwar. According to the police, the victims are labourers who shift articles from one place to another for livelihood. The police said that they are trying to contact the family members of the injured and dead men.
