The Uttarakhand High Court has directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the murder of Ankita Bhandari to present the case diary and progress report of the case in the court by November 3. The single bench o Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra issued this direction while hearing on a petition seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the said murder case. The matter will be taken up for hearing next on November 3.

According to the case details, Ashutosh Negi, a relative of Ankita Bhandari has filed the petition stating that the police and SIT are concealing important evidence in this case. Stating that the post-mortem report of the murder victim has not been made public yet, the petitioner has also pointed out that the room she occupied in the Vanantara resort where she was employed, was damaged on the same day when her body was recovered. There was no woman present when the forensic medical examination on her body was conducted which is in contradiction to the directions of the Supreme Court, the petitioner has stated. The petitioner has further claimed that Ankita Bhandari was sexually assaulted though the police are denying this. On the day she was murdered, the main accused Pulkit Arya was in her room and she was reported to be crying at that time. Considering all these factors, the probe into Ankita Bhandari’s murder should be handed over to the CBI, the petitioner has stated.
