The Uttarakhand Congress removed Sarita Arya from the position of Mahila Congress state president and primary membership of the party on Monday. In a letter the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal said that her recent statements have dented the image of the party. The general secretary (organisation) of Congress, Mathura Dut Joshi said that the party has expelled her for six years from the primary membership. Launching an attack on Arya, the party spokesperson of Garhwal, Garima Dasauni said that the party had given all respect to Arya. She said that it is unfortunate that she left the party just to confirm her ticket. Dasauni said that it was the Congress which gave her ticket in the 2012 Assembly election and made her MLA and then again gave her the ticket in 2017. She added that the party made her the State president of Mahila Congress but she now has deserted the party. Dasauni said that the party has many upcoming women leaders and Arya’s absence would have no effect on the Congress.
