Upcoming industries exempted from map approval from local development authorities
Master plan to develop 11 stations on Rishikesh- Karnprayag rail route

Moving forward on the goodwill generated during the recently concluded Global Investors Summit-2023, the Uttarakhand government has exempted the upcoming industrial units from getting the maps approved from the local development authorities. The new industrial units will now have to get their maps approved only from the State Industrial Development Authority (SIDA). A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the State cabinet chaired by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday.
Informing about the decision the chief secretary SS Sandhu  told media persons that the entrepreneurs were demanding that they should be freed from the hassles of getting clearances from development authorities such as MDDA. They wanted their approvals to be given by SIDA where the task is much simpler. He said that the step will help the industries in the State. The CS said that the state government is focussing on grounding the agreements reached during the investor’s summit.
In another important decision, the State cabinet also approved the plan to create a master plan for all the 11 railway stations on the under construction Rishikesh- Karnprayag rail line. The cabinet also imposed a ban on all the construction works in an area of 400 metres of these railway stations for a period of one year so that they get developed as per the master plan. However, ongoing construction works in these areas will remain unaffected by the ban order. The CS said that there are 11 railway stations- Yog Nagari Rishikesh, Shivpuri, Sirola, Chilgart, Maletha, Srinagar, Dharidevi, Pilani, Gholteer and Gauchar on the rail route. The master plan will help in planned development of the area around these stations.
Accepting the demand of different employee organisations the State cabinet approved one time relaxation in the promotion regulation till June 30, 2024. The decision will help in promotion of employees of all cadres and grades. Giving benefit for the applicants seeking appointments in government jobs on compassionate ground, the cabinet removed the compulsion that appointment on compassionate ground would not be done to the group D posts recruited through the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC). The CS said that after the recruitment scam many posts of group D were transferred from Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) to UKPSC which created a hindrance in appointment on compassionate (appointment of one of the dependents of deceased employee in government job) due to the above mentioned regulation. Similarly, the cabinet also paved the way for appointment on compassionate ground in the transport department by removing the freeze on 195 posts. These posts will now be filled by the dependents of employees who died during their service period.
The State cabinet in its meeting also reduced the limit of setting up petrol pumps from the stream from existing 50 metres to five metres.
In another decision, the cabinet approved the plan for increasing the insurance cover and the premium amount under the employee group insurance scheme. The insurance cover has now been increased up to Rs 20 lakh as per the grade pay of the employees.
To effectively tackle the problem of goitre, the State government will now provide one kg iodised salt per month at Rs eight per kg to all the BPL and Antyodaya ration card holders. The cabinet decision in this regard taken on the day will ensure that 60 per cent of the population of the State will get the iodised salt.
In an attempt to tackle shortage of senior residents in the medical colleges which was hindering the approval of PG seats in the colleges, the cabinet approved the plan of extending the tenure of Sr residents appointed under the bond scheme from existing one year to two years. The extended period will be included in the bond time.
In another decision the cabinet created 327 new posts for six new police stations and 21 police posts in the Police department. These new stations and police posts were created when revenue areas were brought under the ambit of regular police. The cabinet also increased the incentive amount given to aspirants of the UPSC examinations and NDA, CDS from existing Rs 50,000 to Rs one lakh per candidate.
