Two Himachal men die after pickup falls 600 metres down mountainside

Two persons from neighbouring Himachal Pradesh died when the pickup vehicle they were in fell into a 700 metre deep gorge in the Kalsi area of Dehradun district on Friday. According to information from the police, at about 6 AM, a pickup vehicle with license plate number HP 08 A 1427 reportedly fell about 600 metres down the mountainside at Timra on the Kalsi-Rohdu route. There were three persons in the vehicle when it met with the mishap.

On receiving information about the accident, the Kalsi police, State Disaster Response Force and Revenue police reached the site to conduct rescue and relief efforts. Two of the persons in the vehicle had died on the spot while the third one was rescued in an injured state. The injured man was taken to the nearest hospital where it was learnt that the pickup vehicle was taking lime from Vikasnagar to Himachal Pradesh.

The two persons who died in the mishap have been identified as Rohit Thapa (21) and Mohanlal (26). Both are residents of Chaupal in Shimla districts of Himachal Pradesh. The injured man Vikhyat Singh (30) is also a resident of the same town.
