Nityanand’s work on Himalayas inspirational- Prem Budakoti

Former minister of state Prem Budakoti has said that Dr Nityanand was very sensitive to the Himalayas and its issues. He was speaking at a national seminar on ‘ Himalayas, environment and development’ organised on the 96th birth anniversary of Dr Nityanand on Wednesday. The seminar was organised under the aegis of Dr Nityanand  Himalayan research and study centre.

He said that Dr Nityanand used to say that Uttarakhand is part of Himalayas and its problems are the problem of Himalayas too and vice versa.

In her presidential address the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Doon University Surekha Dangwal gave a detailed account of the vision of Dr Nityanand for the Himalayas. She said that he extensively travelled the Himalayas and understood minutely and holistically. 

In the seminar the research scholars presented their papers  on the various aspects of environmental conservation, disaster management, forest, soil and others.

The programme was attended by dean student welfare H C Purohit, Professor D D Chauniyal and others.
