 State planning to double its GDP in next five years, empower women

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami set up the development road map for Uttarakhand on the occasion of the 23rd State foundation day on Wednesday by making 12 declarations. Addressing the programme organised at Police lines on the day, the CM said that the State government has decided to double the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the State by the year 2027. The CM said that a consultancy firm would be selected soon by the State government for identifying the new sources of income and giving suggestions for increasing the GDP of the State.

He announced that micro hydropower and solar policies would be formulated in the State to attract new investors. The CM said that a transformation programme would be taken up in the School education department of the State under which strengthening of infrastructure and extension activities would be held in 200 hundred schools in a year. In this manner one thousand schools would be transformed in the next five years. He also announced that the plantation of the high value fruit crops in place of low value crops would be promoted in the State on the lines of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. He said that a new tourism policy would be prepared in the State to attract investment in the field of tourism. The State would start a ‘ Rajya Pashu Dhan mission’ to make the cattle owners economically strong. Dhami informed that the State government has taken up a target to make 10,000 women entrepreneurs in the next five years. He said that Gora Shakti App would be soon launched for the safety and empowerment of the women in the State. The App would bring the women into the safety circle of police. He said that an online marketing platform would be made available to the women self help groups in rural and urban areas. The CM disclosed that a corpus of Rs one crore would be created in the police department under which the people helping the police in nabbing the criminals having bounty on their heads. He said that the statehood movement and different aspects of the culture would be included in the curriculum. Dhami also announced setting up of ‘Mukhyamantri Chaupal programmes in Tehsils to solve the problems of the people. This scheme would bring the ‘governance at doorsteps’ programme of the government on the ground, he said. The secretaries, principal secretaries and district magistrates would attend these Chaupals.
