Covid-19; Record 7,028 new cases reported on Tuesday, 5,696 recover

The record breaking spree of the contagion of Covid-19 in Uttarakhand is continuing at an alarming pace. On Tuesday the number of new cases of the disease breached the 7000 figure mark with the state health department reporting 7028 patients on the day. With it the cumulative count of the patients in the state crossed the 2 lakh mark ( 204051).  This is the highest single day count of the patients in the state so far. On April 29, the authorities had reported 6251 patients, a record which was broken on Tuesday. The authorities reported the death of 85 patients from different hospitals on the day. A total of 3015 deaths have so far been reported in the state due to Covid-19 and the death rate is now at 1.48 percent. The authorities discharged 5696 patients after recovery from the hospitals on Tuesday which also is a record for single day recoveries. The cumulative count of recovered patients in the state has mounted to 140184.   

Out of a whopping 85 deaths reported on Tuesday, 24 deaths were reported from Sushila Tiwari Government Hospital Haldwani. Similarly 12 patients died at Himalayan hospital Jollygrant and eight  each at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and HNB Base hospital Srinagar. Five patients were reported dead at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital Dehradun, four at Military Hospital Dehradun and two at CMI hospital Dehradun on Tuesday.

 Dehradun district reported a staggering 2789 new patients of Covid-19 on Tuesday while 833 patients surfaced in Udham Singh Nagar on the day. Nainital reported 819, Haridwar 657, Pauri 513, Pithoragarh 231, Bageshwar 215, Tehri 200, Almora 170, Champawat 163, Uttarkashi 153, Chamoli 150 and Rudraprayag 135 new patients of Covid-19 on Tuesday.

The state now has 56627 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to be at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 19925 patients, Haridwar has 10599, Nainital 6626, Udham Singh Nagar 4006, Pauri 3587, Tehri 2269, Champawat 2013, Almora 1814, Chamoli 1496, Pithoragarh 1195, Uttarkashi 1177, Rudraprayag 975 and Bageshwar 945 active cases of the disease.  To contain the contagion of Covid-19, the state administration has set up 279 containment zones in different parts of the state. In the ongoing vaccination drive 25413 people were vaccinated in 229 sessions in different parts of the state. A total of 450522 people have so far been fully vaccinated in the state while 1689683 have been partially vaccinated.
