DSO to start inspection for ineligible ration card beneficiaries

Monday, 29 November 2021 | PNS | Dehradun

The Dehradun district administration will start inspections to check those locals who own ration cards meant for low income beneficiaries. The district supply officer (DSO) Jaswant Kandari said that the administration received complaints that many local stable earners have those ration cards which are meant to benefit the low-income families of Dehradun to get a subsidised monthly ration. He said that the administration has ordered the supply officers to verify the details of ration cardholders in their respective areas.

He said that the beneficiary is asked to show proof of income besides other necessary documents during the verification process. If he or she fails to present them, the department sends a notice and the allotted ration card is annulled, informed Kandari. The DSO said that the department can also impose hefty fines on such beneficiaries depending on the use of the subsidised ration. He appealed to locals to surrender such ration cards on their own and asked to complain to the DSO office against such beneficiaries.
