Modern bylaws for cooperative societies to be implemented in all States: Union MoS

The Union minister of State for Cooperation, BL Verma has said that modern bylaws for the cooperative societies are being drafted for development of the cooperative movement and it will be implemented in all the States of the country. He was addressing the cooperative conclave held at Patanjali in Haridwar on Saturday.

He said that this is an important step in the direction of bringing uniformity and efficiency in the working of the cooperative societies in different parts of the country.

Verma said that the ministry is working to streamline the functioning of cooperative societies and their effective implementation in the country. He said that Union Minister Amit Shah has undertaken a unique initiative by integrating the Cooperation ministry in the entire country and presented a cooperative database which includes information about every State. 

 Speaking on the occasion, the State’s Cooperatives minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that emphasis is being laid on cooperation and cooperatives in the conclave. He expressed the need for the government, businesses and the civil society to work together to achieve similar goals. Rawat said that all the representatives of cooperatives in Uttarakhand will give their contribution for achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat. He said that in the last seven years nine lakh farmers have been given loans worth Rs 5,500 crore at zero percent interest rate which has helped in doubling their income.

The chief executive officer of Patanjali Ayurveda Limited Acharya Balkrishna said that the Cooperative department in Uttarakhand is working in the direction of bringing happiness in the poor strata of the society and making it self-reliant. He praised minister Rawat for taking up initiative for inclusive development and welfare of the people. The registrar of cooperative societies Alok Kumar Pandey informed about the activities of the department.  A coffee table book on the feats of the Cooperatives department in the last six years was also launched on the occasion.
