Talk of leadership change in BJP boosts Cong morale

The party gears up to make Srinagar rally on March 14, a success

Enthused by the leadership crisis in the state BJP and strong rumours of the change of chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat in the state, the Uttarakhand Congress has thrown all its weight to make its proposed “Jan Akorsh’ rallies a success. The first in the series of these rallies would be held in Srinagar Garhwal on March 14. Addressing a meeting held in the state headquarters of the party to discuss the preparation of the Srinagar rally here on Monday, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh said that the national leadership of BJP has sensed the mood of the people of Uttarakhand which has forced the BJP to change its leadership in the state. He said that the BJP government which has an overwhelming majority in assembly has failed on every front and the people of the state are fed up with it. He said that the people are now looking at the Congress party with hope. The PCC president appealed to the Congress leaders to ensure success of the Srinagar rally.

The Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana presented the report of his Garhwal tour. He claimed that there is enthusiasm in the people for the rally in Srinagar. He claimed that supporters of the party from six assembly segments would take part in the rally in large numbers. Senior Congress leader Manish Khanduri said that the local unit of the party has made all the preparation for the rally in Srinagar. The meeting was attended by the former minister Surveer Singh Sajwan, state general secretary Pradip Tiwari, Vijay Saraswat, district presidents of Rudraprayag, Pauri, Tehri and Devprayag attended the meeting.
