In latest news from Uttarakhand, the noted thespian and founder member of Yugmanch Zahoor Alam was presented the prestigious Sangeet Natak Academy Award by the President Draupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi in recognition of his contribution in the genre of theatre. He was felicitated with a tamra patra, anga vastra and a cheque of Rs one lakh. The people associated with theatre activities from Nainital look happy over the thespian’s felicitation.     Notably, prior to this, Mohan Upreti, Brijmohan Shah and Diwan Singh Bajeli-all hailing from Utarakhand- were presented with the award.  But importantly, while these theatre artists are working in the field of music and drama in Delhi,
Zahoor Alam works in the mountainous areas of Uttarakhand. “He is engaged in preserving and promoting the diverse cultural heritage of Uttarakhand while working in the State. This has made us all the more proud,” said a Nainital-based theatre director.
