GAIL Gas Limited under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas along with Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) organised Saksham CNG car and auto rally in Dehradun on Saturday to spread awareness about the conservation of petroleum products and efficient use of CNG as fuel. This rally was flagged off from Shaktiman Police Filling Station, Race Course by Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’. Vinod Kumar Arora and other officers from GAIL Gas were present on the occasion. The theme of the event is based on the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav through Green and Clean Energy”. More than 25 CNG vehicles participated in the rally and promoted the usage of green and clean fuel CNG.

Officials informed that GAIL Gas Limited is operating through six CNG stations in Dehradun and supplying CNG to the transport sector. CNG is an efficient, eco-friendly and economical fuel of the century. It is more cost-effective than petrol and diesel. Cars that run on CNG, emit 30 per cent less carbon dioxide and 80 per cent less Carbon Monoxide than the variants using diesel or petrol as fuel. In CNG Vehicles, 44 per cent fewer hydrocarbons are produced in comparison to gasoline-powered vehicles. For CNG kits, the payback period is less than two years due to the cost efficiency of the fuel. CNG is cleaner when compared to traditional petrol and diesel, said the officials.

It is pertinent to mention here that Saksham is an annual flagship event organised jointly by PCRA and public sector oil and gas companies. This campaign is aimed at drawing mass attention and sensitising various groups of society on the need and benefits of petroleum products conservation plus minimising the energy impact bills.
