Following the direction of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Naintal district magistrate and the senior superintendent of police will soon provide a report on the Madarsa which was found to be functioning illegally for more than a decade. Member of SCPCR Vinod Kaparwan said that last month the commission came to know about the activities of the Madarsa located in Nainital, which had allegedly been operating illegally for 13 years in the Veerbhatti area of the district. Students had also made allegations of mistreatment by the institution’s officials, he added.

Kaparwan further said that in light of this, the SCPCR has instructed the Nainital DM and SSP to investigate the matter and submit a report on the Madarsa’s operations to the commission. He emphasised that it is expected that the DM and SSP of Nainital will submit the said report to the commission by November 5.

It will be recalled that earlier during October, the case of Madarsa came to public attention. Subsequently, the commission conducted an investigation into the matter and instructed the authorities to take appropriate action. In response to this, the general secretary of the said Madarsa was also apprehended last month.
