MCD steps up sanitation efforts ahead of Deepawali

13 officials deputed to further enhance sanitation in 100 municipal wards

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun has deputed 13 officials to ensure the desired level in the 100 municipal wards of the provisional State capital. The Dehradun municipal commissioner Manuj Goyal fixed the responsibility of the 13 officials for the cleanliness in 100 wards in order to further improve the sanitation system in the city. This step comes ahead of Deepawali and other festivals during which the garbage generation rises considerably in the city. Goyal directed the officials that they must ensure a high level of sanitation in the wards allocated to them.They will also ensure cent per cent door to door collection of garbage in their wards and will also check the availability of the garbage collection vehicles in the wards. These officials will also check the cleanliness of the roads, drains and public spaces while also ensuring that the level of sanitation is improved further. Goyal further directed the officials to submit a report about the drains which are choked due to being damaged. The officials will also conduct surprise inspections to check the beat-wise presence of the sanitation workers in their respective wards. They will also ensure cleaning of the heaps of garbage found in the wards allocated to them. Goyal said that the MCD strives to ensure a high level of sanitation in the city. “We have allocated the responsibility for wards to officials to check the sanitation system and execute effective measures. We are also attempting to ensure cent per cent door to door collection of garbage and we also expect the people of Dehradun to cooperate in this effort,” the municipal commissioner said.
