The police have registered a case of abetment to suicide in the Bageshwar mass suicide case against those mentioned in the suicide note allegedly written by 13-year-old Anjali, one of the three children found dead on March 16 along with their mother. The police on Saturday found a suicide note of six pages allegedly written by class VIII student Anjali before the mother and three children purportedly committed suicide.

The police matched her handwriting with her writing in her school notebook and will soon confirm it through the experts too. The superintendent of the police of Bageshwar, Himanshu Verma told The Pioneer that the child has written in the suicide note about the humiliation and mental harassment they all were subjected to because of the father Bhupal Ram who had borrowed money from several people and failed to pay them back. He has also allegedly scammed many in the name of providing them jobs. His creditors allegedly used to pressurise the mother and humiliate the family.

Besides this, the family was also distressed financially and had no ration or food at their home, said the SP. “Anjali has mentioned names of some people who allegedly harassed them and pushed them to take the extreme step of committing suicide. We have registered a case against them under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code,” said Verma. He said that the police are investigating the matter and will act accordingly if any new evidence comes to light in the case.
