Will bring uniformity in higher education in State: minister

Digital health ID of all the students studying in the higher education institutes of the State to be made

The Higher Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that the policy of ‘one examination, one entrance, one result and one election’ would be implemented in the State to bring uniformity in the higher education sector of Uttarakhand. The minister chaired a meeting of the representatives of the private and aided educational institutes affiliated with the Sridev Suman Uttarakhand University at the auditorium of the National Institute for Empowerment of the Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) here on Sunday. The minister said that a digital health ID of all the students studying in the higher education institutes of the State would be prepared. All health related details of the students would remain safe digitally and can be used whenever needed by the health ID. Rawat said that the Ayushman cards of all the students would also be made and for this the State Health Authority (SHA) would share QR code with all the universities. The students can register for the scheme using this QR code. The minister said that the State government has taken a target to free Uttarakhand from TB by the year 2024 and under it the participation of the institutes of higher education is important. He exhorted the educational institutes to adopt patients depending upon their capacity. He directed the institutes to undertake an Anti tobacco campaign and campaign against substance abuse in their campuses. The minister said that apart from the quality education the students should have knowledge of the moral education. He said that under the provisions of National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 subjects based in the Indian traditional knowledge and moral education are needed to be included in the curriculum.  In the meeting Rawat directed all the institutes to compulsorily apply for the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). He said that a NAAC workshop would be organised by the university in the month of February.

 In the meeting the vice chancellor of the Sridev Suman University Mahavir Singh Rawat gave a presentation of the activities and plans of the university. He assured the administrators of the private colleges that all their issues would be solved without any delay. The registrar of the university Khemraj Bhatt asked all the institutes to complete the process and formalities for affiliation. The programme was coordinated by the examination controller Hemant Bisht.

 The director general of Health, Dr Vinita Shah, director of NIEPVD Manish Verma and the chairpersons, directors and principals of the private educational institutes attended the meeting.
