Pauri police cyber cell facilitates refunds to 20 victims

The Pauri district police cyber cell has facilitated the refunding of Rs 11,36,810 which was siphoned out by fraudsters from bank accounts of the 20 persons in the past three months this year. In the month of April the cyber cell solved online fraud cases on the basis of complaints lodged by two persons and facilitating the refunding of Rs 1,40,000 out of Rs 1,65,000 siphoned off by cyber criminals from the bank accounts of the victims.

             According to police GVPIET principal Manoj Kumar had complained that unknown persons had duped him online and withdrawn Rs 1,25,000 from his account. In the second case a resident of Galegaon village in Rikhanikhal, Navin Singh had lodged a complaint that an unknown person had conned him online and withdrawn Rs 40,000 from his account.

Taking swift action, the cyber cell managed to get Rs one lakh refunded to Kumar and Rs 40,000 to Singh

It is pertinent to mention here that as in some other parts of the state, Pauri district is witnessing a rise in cyber crimes despite the awareness campaigns conducted by the police from time to time. However, in many cases, the prompt action of the police ensures some or full relief to the victims. The police have requested the citizens that they should desist from sharing details of bank account, password, OTP and other such confidential information with unknown persons.The citizens should not click any link of unknown job offer or scan QR code from unknown source.
