Covid-19 continues to be deadly in Uttarakhand

10 deaths, 1,200 new cases reported on Monday

The contagiousness of Covid-19 in Uttarakhand in the ongoing third wave of the pandemic seems to be getting less severe in the state but the fatality of the disease is continuing to increase. On Monday the state Health department reported only 1,200 new cases of the disease. However, the death of 10 patients from the disease was reported on the day by the Health department from different parts of the state.

The state Health department has so far detected 76,301 new cases of the disease from January 1 this year till date. A total of 44,391 patients have recovered from the disease so far in this year while 128 patients have died in the state since January 1 this year. On Monday 27,095 samples were sent to the laboratory for testing by the authorities. 

 The recovery percentage of the disease was at 58.18 on Monday. The positivity rate of the disease was reported at 4.40 per cent on the day.  

The authorities reported the death of three patients each at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, Mahant Indiresh Hospital Dehradun and BC Joshi hospital (DRDO) Nainital on Monday. One patient died at the Base Hospital Kotdwar on the day. 

 The health department reported 368 new patients from Dehradun, 211 from Udham Singh Nagar, 210 from Nainital, 160 from Haridwar, 67 from Champawat,45 from Uttarkashi, 35 from Rudraprayag, 34 from Pauri, 25 from Almora, 17 from Bageshwar, 11 from Chamoli, 10 from Tehri and seven from Pithoragarh on Monday.

In the ongoing vaccination drive 1,35,384 people were vaccinated in 1870 sessions in the state held on Monday.
