Different employee associations of Uttarakhand have started exerting pressure on the major political parties to include the issues of the employees in their manifestos for the upcoming assembly elections.

On Monday the Rajya Karmchari Sanyukt Parishad said that a separate ministry should be constituted to solve the issues of the employees. In a letter to all political parties the president of the Parishad Arun Pandey said that there are about two lakh employees including the teachers, employees of corporation and UPNL workers. He said that the employees want that they should get higher pay scales at the end of 10, 16 and 26 years of service. Pandey said that the discrepancies in the golden card should be removed and Old Pension Scheme (OPS) should be implemented. The Parishad wants that the transfers act should be kept in abeyance in view of many discrepancies and a committee with representation of employee unions should be constituted to bring corrective changes in it. Pandey added that the 100 per cent compulsory promotion system should be implemented and the relaxation in norms for promotion should be continued.

The Uttarakhand officers, employees, teachers federation has also said that the candidates of the political parties should clear their stand on the issues of the employees. Recently an online meeting of the federation was convened in which the speakers said that the discrepancies in the golden card should be removed and demanded that all candidates should give priority to the issue in the manifesto as it is associated with about one fourth of the population of the state. They also demanded implementation of OPS, regulating the services of UPNL and Outsource employees.
