A video of a 12-year-old boy has surfaced on social media platforms in which his mother can be seen alleging that her son was tortured by the administration of an institute. However the institute has refuted the allegations and has decided to file a defamation case against the mother.

The video shows the boy in a disturbed state being treated by doctors in a hospital in the presence of his mother. The mother has been claiming in the video that her son who studied at Doon Defence Dreamers on Sahastradhara Road had been mentally tortured by its administration.

She stated that she received a call from the institute last week informing her that her son was sick. She said that it took her two days to reach Dehradun from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. She alleged that the institute asked her to deposit Rs 40,000 as charges and then threw her son and his stuff on the street. She said that she cannot afford to get her son treated here and that she does not have enough money to return to Bareilly. She said that she has even approached police in the matter but no action was taken by them. It has been claimed in the video that the boy was repeatedly saying not to expel him from the institute and is consistently asking her mother who she was.

However the administration of the institute has refuted all these claims. A faculty member of the institute, Abhinav Chaudhary told The Pioneer that the boy was admitted in the institute only last week. The boy was in the institute only for four days out of which, he spent two days getting medical treatment. Chaudhary said that the child started experiencing fits after his admission and was taken to a hospital for medical treatment. “We called the mother and asked her about the boy’s medical history but she did not give us any proper details. She said that she would talk to him on the phone and he would be fine soon. We could see it was not something that could be managed on the phone so we called her here,” he said. He further said that they told the mother that they cannot admit a child with such medical conditions along with other children. He added, “The mother kept insisting on admitting him in the institute. She has claimed that we tortured the boy who can be seen saying ‘don’t expel me’ in the video. Why would he say that if he was being tortured here? The other students have also complained about him using vulgar language.

Despite all this, we did everything we could to help him with his condition. We have all the bills from hospitals and recordings of the conversation we had with his mother. The mother has tried to tarnish our reputation with false accusations. We have all the proof of our innocence and we will file a defamation case against her,” added Chaudhary.

Meanwhile, the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) has also stated that they would check the matter on Wednesday to verify whether or not the child was being tortured in any way during his stay in the institute.
