Prominent boarding schools permit parents to take children back home

In latest news from Doon, in view of the spiralling tension between India and Pakistan, the managements of the top boarding schools located in Dehradun, including The Doon School and Welham Girls’ School, stated that they had given permission to the parents of the students to take them back home, adding that they had been receiving requests from the worried parents expressing their desire to take back their children home in view of the escalating military showdown involving the two neighbouring countries.

Notably, schools, colleges and universities in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan have been closed in view of the soaring tension.

The management of a prominent Doon-based residential school said that though the children were safe they had positively responded to the parents’ request to take them back home in anticipation of possible disruption in flight services.  It further said that in case the parents chose their children to stay put in the school they had ensured that the school would continue to function with all facilities remaining operational till the end of the term.
