Noted Sufi singer and Padma Shri recipient Kailash Kher along with the Kailasa Band performed at Parmarth Niketan in the presence of yoga enthusiasts from 75 countries who congregated in the holy town Rishikesh to attend the International Yoga Festival. The singer said he was amazed with people from diverse nations having converged in Rishikesh to practise yoga and meditation while embracing Indian traditions and attire. “It feels as though I am in a mini world which is pervaded by a sense of peace, love and harmony. The incredible power of yoga has made this possible,” he said.

Another special feature of this International Yoga Festival is the large participation of school and college students from across several States of the country. Among them were the Buddhist students of Tawang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh. The students who came along with Buddhist lamas had an interactive session with the Parmarth Niketan head Swami Chidanand Saraswati.  The ascetic answered questions the students asked on spirituality.  Looking satisfied with the enthusiastic participation of youngsters in the IYF, he said they seemed eager to connect to the timeless values enshrined in the Indian culture.
