Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that in view of the expected arrival of a large number of pilgrims for the Char Dham Yatra, the state administrations should make all the necessary preparations for smooth conduct of the Yatra. He said that the message of ‘ Atithi Devo Bhava’ should come out of this year’s Yatra. The CM made these comments while reviewing the preparations for the Yatra in a high-level meeting held at the state secretariat on Thursday.

In the meeting the CM directed the secretary Public Works Department (PWD) to undertake physical inspection of the Yatra routes and ensure necessary corrective measures before the start of Yatra. He also asked the District Magistrates (DM) to regularly monitor the works on the routes. He said that necessary machines for opening the roads should be deployed and for tracking the JCB machines they should be linked with GPS. On a stern note the CM said that there should be no debris or garbage strewn on the roads and special focus should be made on waste disposal.  He suggested that use of drone technology should be made in managing the Yatra and a toll free number should be given to every pilgrim which should have all necessary information. The CM said that proper arrangements for registration of pilgrims and parking of vehicles should be made.  Dhami said that the test of fitness of the vehicles should be done. He said that police personnel deployed on the checking points should behave in a polite manner with the pilgrims and they should not be harassed in the name of checking. He directed that the medical officers should be deployed at necessary places and arrangements of Air Ambulance should be made. Regular checking should be done to prevent adulteration and overrating in the Yatra route. Dhami said that 24 hour electricity supply should be ensured at the char dhams and Hemkund Sahib and proper arrangement of lighting should be made on Yatra routes.

He also directed that the officials should undertake an awareness campaign for the necessary precautions the pilgrims should take during the Yatra and the Yatra should be popularised through different mediums. The CM opined that apart from Char Dhams information about other places of worship and tourist spots should be given.
