The Uttarakhand chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has filed a complaint against Baba Ramdev and his associate Balkrishna for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to launch and market Coronil by claiming it to be a medicine of Covid -19 and  defaming the allopathic system of medicine. In the complaint lodged at the Cantt police station of Dehradun, the president of IMA Uttarakhand Dr Arvind Sharma, secretary Dr Ajay Khanna, treasurer Dr Sanjay Upreti on behalf of IMA Uttarakhand have demanded action on Ramdev and Balkrishna under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC), Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Diseases Act. The association has also written a letter to the Director General (DG) of Uttarakhand police requesting him to take necessary action.

The IMA is miffed ever since Ramdev had said that allopathy is a “stupid and bankrupt” science. He had purportedly said that all medicines used against Covid-19 have failed and the doctors don’t have any treatment. When the allopathic doctors raised their strong objection and the Union minister of Health and Family Welfare termed his statement unfortunate, Ramdev took back his statement. He however shot an open letter to IMA and posed 25 questions related to allopathy to them. In one such question he said that doctors should not fall ill if allopathy is all powerful and has all good qualities. This letter further angered the IMA and it threatened to slap a defamation suit on Ramdev. The association has now filed a complaint against Ramdev and Balkrishna.
