Homes in Dronagiri burgled for 4th consecutive year

The locks on various homes in the high altitude village of Dronagiri have been found to be broken. The materials kept inside many homes were scattered around while some were also stolen. The villagers made this discovery after returning to their homes in Dronagiri from their winter lodgings. The residents of the village are concerned as the thefts have been occurring in the village for some years now and the culprits have not been caught yet.

According to local sources, the locks of many homes in the village were found to be broken. The home of Bagh Singh was also broken into, all the contents were scattered around while some were also stolen. It is being reported that the homes of Deewan Singh, Rahul Singh and Bhopal Singh were also burgled. The items stolen from these homes include food items, clothes, utensils and bed rolls among other items. This is not the first time that homes in the village have been burglarised. According to villager Narendra Rawat, thefts in this village have been taking place for four consecutive years now. The authorities have not been able to catch the culprits so far. The villagers have demanded that the matter be investigated and that the case be solved.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dronagiri village in Chamoli district is where the residents are still miffed at lord Hanuman for carrying away the top of the mountain peak they used to worship. It is believed that unable to identify the life saving Sanjeevani herb, lord Hanuman had carried away the mountain peak to take the herb to save a grievously injured Lakshman.
