Says will leave politics if BJP provides list of 3,200 people provided employment

Former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat has challenged the Bharatiya Janata Party to provide names of 3,200 people provided employment by the state government, adding that he will leave politics if the BJP does so. He said that as soon as the Congress forms its government in the state filling the vacant posts will be its first task. Rawat said this while addressing a large gathering as part of the Congress’ Vijay Sankalp Shankhnad Yatra here on Thursday.

Rawat said that the enthusiasm of Congress workers will make history in Uttarakhand and bring the party to power in 2022. He opined that Congress’ victory here in 2022 will strengthen the chances of Rahul Gandhi becoming the Prime Minister in 2024. Rawat alleged that the BJP government is one which dents the interests of the poor, backward, farmers and small businessmen. Stating that the BJP had stopped the various public welfare schemes of the Congress government, he said that all these will be resumed once the Congress returns to power. He said that the priorities of the Congress will be employment generation, economic empowerment of women and strengthening the farmers.

Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal averred that development remains consistent only under a Congress government whereas the BJP has actually hampered development.

Meanwhile, the Congress presented a show of strength with the presence of its state in-charge Devendra Yadav, leader of opposition Pritam Singh, deputy leader of opposition Karan Mahra, PCC working president Ranjit Rawat, MP Pradeep Tamta, former cabinet minister Yashpal Arya and other senior leaders.
