18,000 patients have overcome TB in U’khand: Minister

The health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that a total of 18000 people in the State have become healthy after defeating TB.  He said that a campaign to free Uttarakhand from the scourge of TB till the year 2024 is underway in the rural and urban areas of the State. The minister said that a total of 9,630 people in the State have registered themselves as Ni-Shay Mitras under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and with their help more than 18,000 patients have recovered from the disease. He said that the Ni-shay Mitras are playing a key role in TB eradication by adopting patients of the disease.

Rawat said that 723 TB patients have recovered from the disease in Almora while 246 in Bageshwar, 875 in Chamoli, 489 in Champawat, 2424 in Dehradun, 417 in Pauri, 5613 in Haridwar, 2543 in Nainital, 609 in Pithoragarh, 507 in Rudraprayag, 729 in Tehri, 3133 in Udham Singh Nagar and 477 patients in Uttarkashi have defeated the disease. 

The minister said that 2148 Ni-shay Mitras are registered in Haridwar, 2173 in Udham Singh Nagar, 1288 in Nainital, 1470 in Dehradun, 497 in Almora, 467 in Pauri, 387 in Tehri, 245 in Pithoragarh, 221 in Rudraprayag, 205 in Chamoli, 197 in Uttarkashi, 179 in Champawat and 153 in Bageshwar.

He said that there are a total of 15,070 TB patients in the State. The minister said that the union government has selected seven districts of the State for TB eradication and has given gold medal to Dehradun district while Champawat, Pauri and Tehri received bronze medals.
