The demand for restoration of the old pension scheme (OPS) has again started gathering momentum among the government employees of the state. A delegation of the Uttarakhand chapter of National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS) met the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday and demanded that the benefit of OPS should be given to the employees of the state covered under New Pension Scheme (NPS). They requested that the old scheme of leave encashment and retirement benefits should be extended to the employees. The delegation  said that the employee contribution in the NPS should be returned to the family members of the dead employees.
The state president of NMOPS, Jeet Mani Painuli said that many states of the country have made declarations for restoration of OPS to their employees but in Uttarakhand the cabinet decision of January 7, 2022 on the benefit of OPS to the employees recruited under the recruitment advertisements prior of October 1, 2005 has not been implemented as yet.
