The Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Kumar Srivastava directed the city magistrate and sub divisional magistrates (SDMs) to take action against those shopkeepers and vendors who do not follow Covid-19 protocols in marketplaces. According to Srivastava, he has received several complaints that many vegetables and fruit vendors, shopkeepers and their assistants in shops are not wearing masks and following social distancing as per the norms.

Taking cognisance of the complaints, the DM directed the city magistrate and SDMs to run a campaign at the places where the possibility of crowd gatherings is more in the city like Clock Tower, Rispana bridge and Lalpul and spread awareness while taking action against the offenders violating the Covid guidelines. He also directed the officials to regularly visit ration shops, dairies and wholesale markets of vegetables and fruits at their respective areas and take appropriate actions against the culprits. Srivastava also instructed them to take the police’s help in this campaign.
