The Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) of Dehradun took action against those violating Covid-19 guidelines in Niranjanpur Mandi as per the recent orders of the Agriculture minister and Dehradun district magistrate.

On Thursday, Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal and district magistrate Ashish Kumar Srivastava had separately visited Niranjanpur Mandi premises to check the condition and work process as most of the city’s vegetables and fruits are supplied from this Mandi. Both expressed their disappointment over unhygienic conditions in the Mandi premises and directed the APMC secretary to maintain hygiene and take action against those who violate Covid norms.

In view of this, the committee on Friday penalised 12 people for not wearing masks and 10 people for encroachment in Mandi premises with the help of police, informed Mandi inspector Ajay Dabral. He said that his team collected a total of Rs 6,500 by penalising 22 people and warned them to strictly follow the rules. Besides this, the APMC team also visited various small vegetables and fruits markets and shops across the city to ensure that consumers are not being overcharged during the Covid curfew in Dehradun, informed Dabral. He added that the committee is taking all the possible measures to ensure the implementation of Covid guidelines and proper sanitation is also being maintained in Mandi premises.
