CM directs timely completion of Kumbh Mela arrangements

U’khand to seek policemen & PAC companies from UP for Kumbh Mela

Regarding the security arrangements for the Kumbh Mela to be held in Haridwar, chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat will talk to his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath seeking 1,000 police personnel and 20 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). Rawat said that this arrangement will be important in the Kumbh Mela especially during the period from April 5 to 15. Keeping Covid-19 in view, all necessary arrangements should be made on time, directed the CM.

The CM held a meeting with senior officials on Wednesday evening to review arrangements for the Kumbh Mela. He directed that all necessary arrangements should be effectively ensured for holding the Kumbh Mela in a safe and systematic manner. All necessary approvals for works related to the Kumbh Mela, the quality and utility of the works along with their effective execution should be ensured, said Rawat. He further said that all permanent works should be completed soon while the temporary works should be completed by March 15. There should not be any problem in completing the Kumbh Mela works, he said. Rawat further said that focus should be laid on issuing standard operating procedure (SOP) for arrangements to be made at the departmental level along with documentation. He stressed on widespread public awareness for this purpose. Urban development secretary Shailesh Bagauli informed about the permanent and temporary works being done for the Kumbh Mela.

The State’s director general of police, Ashok Kumar, secretary Nitesh Jha and other officials concerned were also present in the meeting.
