Covid-19 kills 18 in U’khand on Saturday

462 new cases, 412 patients cured. Death toll mounts to 734, Covid count climbs to 54525

The contagion of the Covid-19 is following a peculiar trend in Uttarakhand. On one hand the health department is reporting less cases of the disease but on the other, the fatalities from the disease are increasing. Continuing on this pattern, the state health department reported 462 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 18 deaths due to the disease on Saturday. The death toll from the disease has now increased to 734 in the state while the tally from the disease has mounted to 54525. The authorities discharged 412 patients of the disease from different hospitals of the state following their recovery. A total of 56186 patients have so far got cured from Covid-19 in the state. The percentage recovery for the Covid-19 patients now stands at 84.67 percent and the Infection rate (IR) is at 6.99 percent. The doubling rate of the disease is 72.40 days.

Deaths of five patients of Covid-19 were reported at Himalayan hospital, Dehradun on Saturday. Similarly death of four patients was reported from Mahant Indiresh hospital, Dehradun while three patients died at CMI hospital Dehradun. Death of two patients occurred at Max hospital while one patient each succumbed to Covid-19 at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, Medicity hospital Rudrapur and Prayas hospital, Udham Singh Nagar.

Out of the 412 recoveries reported on Saturday, 178 are from provisional state capital Dehradun, 107 from Nainital, 51 from Uttarkashi, 26 from Chamoli, 16 from Udham Singh Nagar, 10 from Pithoragarh, seven from Tehri, six from Bageshwar, five from Rudraprayag and four from Almora.

The authorities reported 167 fresh cases of Covid-19 from Dehradun, 62 from Haridwar, 56 from Nainital, 27 from Chamoli, 17 from Uttarkashi, 16 from Tehri Garhwal, 14 from Bageshwar, 10 from Pauri, nine each from Pithoragarh and Champawat and six each from Almora and Rudraprayag district.  The state now has 7321 active patients of the disease. Dehradun district with 2062 active cases is at top of table while Haridwar with 1407 active cases is on second spot. Nainital has 679, Udham Singh Nagar 604, Tehri 482, Uttarkashi 419, Pauri 414, Chamoli 283, Champawat 237, Pithoragarh 236, Rudraprayag 234 and Bageshwar 135 active cases of Covid-19. With 129 active cases, Almora district is now at the bottom of the table of active cases in Uttarakhand.

To prevent spread of the disease the administration has set up 254 containment zones. With a figure of 96, Haridwar district has the highest number of such zones in the state.
