RTO to resume booking slots for learning licenses

Thursday, 20 January 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

The regional transport office (RTO) in Dehradun will resume the booking of slots for learning licenses (LLs) from Friday after keeping it close for two weeks when 11 staff members were found positive for Covid-19. However, new applicants would not be allowed to book the slots due to the heavy backlog in the RTO.

The regional transport officer (administration) Dinesh Chandra Pathoi informed that the booking of the slots was closed due to the shortage of staff in the office but other works were being carried out in the RTO following the covid protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the transport department. He said that considering the current Covid situation, only 50 slots will be allowed to book on daily basis for LLs from Friday. Since there is a backlog of thousands of applications for LLs, only those who had already booked the slots will be allowed to reapply again and new applicants will not be entertained at least this month, added Pathoi. He also informed that driving tests of only 75 applicants of permanent driving licenses will be allowed and the numbers might be increased the next month. He appealed to the people arriving in RTO to follow Covid guidelines and added that no applicant will be allowed to enter the RTO premises without masks.
