Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat digitally transferred a total of Rs 62.21 crore under the State Finance Commission to the 7,791 Gram Panchayats, 95 block Panchayats and 13 district Panchayats here on Saturday. The total sum transferred comprises Rs 19.30 crore for Gram Panchayats, Rs 14.48 crore to block Panchayats and Rs 28.43 crore for district Panchayats. The CM said that the digital transfer of the amount to Panchayats will expedite works and bring about transparency while also enhancing public trust in the governmental system.

Rawat said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India programme, all the central/state finance grants for three-tier Panchayats are being transferred digitally through PFMS. Similarly, the payment for various works done through grants and from their own revenue sources by the Panchayats is also being made digitally through PFMS. Using this system ensures that the amounts from central and state governments are deposited immediately in the accounts of the Panchayats. Rawat also appreciated the efforts of the Panchayats and all villagers in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic. He appealed to all elected Panchayat representatives and villagers to effectively follow the governmental guidelines for protection against Covid by maintaining social distancing and wearing masks in public. Secretary to the CM, Radhika Jha and Panchayati Raj director HC Semwal were also present on the occasion.
