DLSA to organise camps for compoundable cases under MV act

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of Dehradun will set up camps in all the courts of the district today to raise awareness among locals about the compoundable cases under Motor Vehicles (MV) Act which can be settled in Lok Adalat.

The DLSA secretary and civil judge Neha Kushwaha informed that Lok Adalat is being organised in all the courts of the district on December 11 as per the directions of the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA). She said that many are not aware that besides the cases related to land acquisitions, banks and debt recovery, family disputes and matrimonial cases, compoundable cases under the MV act can be settled in Lok Adalat too through amicable settlements.

The DLSA secretary also informed that representatives from the regional transport office (RTO) and the police officials will also be present at camps from 10 AM to 4 PM on Wednesday to raise awareness among the public for the compoundable cases under the MV act. She informed that the amount of penalties imposed under the MV act also decreases considerably through compounding in Lok Adalat. Kushwaha added that Lok Adalat helps the people to settle the cases in a much shorter time and since the cases are settled mutually between the parties, the decision taken here cannot be challenged afterwards.

This gives a sense of security to both parties. She appealed to the public to visit the camps for thorough information about their cases and register for their disposal through Lok Adalat.
