117 modern madrassas to be named after late Prez Kalam

In latest news from Dehradun, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the identified 117 modern madrassas that come under the Uttarakhand Wakf Board would be named after the former President late A P J Abdul Kalam. The State government sought the clearance of the State Wakf Board on the naming of the institutions. Meanwhile, the chairman of the Uttarakhand Minority Commission R K Jain urged the CM to take initiative for building a hostel for the students of the madrassa located in Bharuwala in the city.  This aside, the commission asked the State government to ensure that the officers of the State minority development ministry work from the districts instead of from the Secretariat. Notably, the Uttarakhand Minority Commission and the State police observed the World Minorities Rights Day at the Himalaya Cultural Centre in Garhi Cantt. The CM addressed the programme as the chief guest and declared that the identified 117 modern madrassas across the State operating under the Uttarakhand Wakf Board would be named after the late President Kalam if the board conveyed its concurrence on the matter, adding that his government had rolled out a string of welfare schemes for the minority community, including the skill development scheme meant to train the youths from minorities and weaker sections of the society towards self-employment. Besides, the meritorious students from minority community are being provided with scholarship, Dhami said. Addressing the commemorative gathering, the president of the State Wakf Board said that these institutions would start operating from April.
