Police suspect rape before murder

In latest Dehradun news, police have started investigation after the body of a woman was found lying in a pool of blood on the road outside Centrio Mall located in Hatibarkala area of the capital city. Police privy to the investigation said that the body bore deep injuries on head and feet, adding that it might be a case of murder followed by rape. It is learnt that the woman would roam about the place and she had a verbal spat with someone in the night following which she was killed. As per the initial probe report, she was hit with a heavy object., resulting in her instant death. Police have taken one person who works in a public toilet into custody on the basis of suspicion. He is now being interrogated, police said. At the present stage of investigation, police are not ruling out the possibility of the woman being raped before she was murdered. The station house officer Dalanwala Rajesh Shah said that they were trying to crack the case at the earliest.
